Dear all,

Last year, Arne Luechow kindly asked me to give a series of introductory QMC lectures at the forthcoming Mariapfarr Workshop on Theoretical Chemistry which will take place in Austria from Tue 24th - Fri 27th February (a little over two weeks from today):

Unfortunately I am no longer able to attend the meeting (as I'm looking after some sick family members) and so we're looking for someone to replace me. I've asked a few of the more obvious candidates but haven't been able to find someone who's free. I was hoping therefore that one of the people subscribed to this forum might enjoy the experience?

There are forty-five students, to whom you would need to give four one-hour introductory lectures on QMC in electronic structure. You can use your own slides, or I can supply you with mine which you can just read out, or you can tell me roughly what you want to lecture about and I'll hand-assemble some slides for you based on our regular summer school archive. You may also be able to learn something from the other three lecturers who are treating related topics; these are Marius Lewerenz ("Quantum Monte Carlo methods for quantum liquids"), Ali Alavi ("Full configuration interaction quantum Monte Carlo"), and Erik Koch ("Quantum Monte Carlo and Dynamical Mean-Field Theory"). Other than that you get expenses paid, nice scenery (Mariapfarr is somewhere near Salzburg), as much Wiener Schnitzel, Semmelknoedel, and Punschkrapfen as you can eat, and - for what it's worth - my eternal gratitude.

Anyone interested? Let me know.

Mike
