We invite applications for one PhD and one postdoc position at the CNRS laboratory in Grenoble, France.
Funding comes from the Nanosciences Foundation.
The goal of the project is to develop and apply Quantum Monte Carlo
methods for precise calculations of the ground state and spectral properties
of models ranging from simple systems to realistic nanomaterials.
We will study spectral properties of the electron gas, simple metals
and semiconductors to benchmark less demanding methods.
Correlation and disorder effects in reduced dimensional systems will also be studied, e.g.
the response and transport properties of a two dimensional electron gas.
Candidates with experience in Quantum Monte Carlo methods and electronic structure calculations
should send their application (CV, research interests, name and address of two referees) to
Markus Holzmann ([email protected]) and David Ceperley
([email protected].) before Feb 1, 2014 for positions available in fall 2014.
