The Department of Physics seeks to appoint a full-time Lecturer to enhance and complement our thriving activities in theoretical condensed matter physics. We are looking for candidates with an outstanding research profile in areas such as quantum optics and quantum information, strongly correlated systems, electronic properties of materials, cold atoms, quantum transport in low-dimensional and topological materials, or related subjects.

You must have a strong track record of conducting internationally-leading original and innovative research, have a portfolio of high-quality research publications, and demonstrate excellent teaching abilities, including the potential to supervise postgraduate students. You should also demonstrate the potential to attract external grant income to support your research from a range of sources, and are expected to be able to participate in group and institutional grant applications.

Lancaster University is a leading UK University. The Department of Physics was ranked second for its world-leading research publications in the 2014 UK Research Excellence Framework (REF), and was ranked first and equal-first in the 2008 and 2001 UK Research Assessment Exercises (RAE), respectively.

The Department is committed to family-friendly and flexible working policies on an individual basis. Further information about the Department, including its activities in Theoretical Physics, is available at https://www.lancaster.ac.uk/physics.

Informal enquiries are welcome and can be addressed to Prof. Henning Schomerus (Head of Theory major Research Group, h.schomerus at lancaster.ac.uk) or Prof. Roger Jones (Head of Department, roger.jones at lancaster.ac.uk).

Applications should be accompanied by a cover letter, a full CV, and a brief outline (no more than 1 page of A4) of your research plans.

We welcome applications from female candidates and applications from people in all diversity groups.
