JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship/JAPAN

I can be a host based on the following fellowship.
Our group, at JAIST, has very good accessibility
to HPC (High performance Super computers) since
JAIST has several HPC facilities:

PROGRAM NAME: JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship for Overseas Researchers
(Standard) 2015-2016

We would like to inform you about a fellowship program as follows.

CANDIDATE (FELLOW) ELIGIBILITY:
Each candidate for the Fellowship must:
1) Be a citizen of a country that has diplomatic relations with Japan.
 (Taiwanese and Palestinian researchers will be treated in this manner.)

2-a) Hold a doctorate degree when the Fellowship goes into effect, which
must have been received on or after April 2, 2009; or
2-b) Be scheduled to receive a doctorate degree before the Fellowship
goes into effect.

3) Have arranged in advance a research plan with his/her Japanese host.

Note: Those who have previously been awarded a fellowship under JSPS
   Postdoctoral Fellowship for Overseas Researchers (Standard or/and
Pathway) are not eligible.
The same person may not simultaneously be a candidate for this
program and JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship for Overseas Researchers
(Pathway) or an Invitation Fellowship for Research in Japan.

DURATION AND COMMENCEMENT OF FELLOWSHIPS:
1) 12 to 24 months
2) Successful candidates must start the Fellowship in Japan during
the following periods:
For the 1st Recruitment: April 1, 2015 — September 30, 2015
For the 2nd Recruitment: September 1, 2015 — November 30, 2015

NUMBER OF FELLOWSHIP AWARDED:
1st Recruitment: Approximately 120
2nd Recruitment: Approximately 120

TERMS OF AWARD (FELLOWS ONLY):
1) A round-trip air ticket (based on the JSPS regulations)
2) A monthly maintenance allowance of 362,000 yen
3) A settling-in allowance of 200,000 yen
4) Overseas travel insurance, etc.

DEADLINES:
1st Recruitment: August 12, 2014
2nd Recruitment: April 13, 2015

PROGRAM NAME: JSPS Invitation Fellowship for Research in Japan
(Long-term) 2015-2016

FELLOW ELIGIBILITY:
Researchers who hold a full-time position in an overseas research
institution and satisfy the following requirements:

1) A citizen or permanent resident of a country that has diplomatic
relations with Japan (Taiwanese and Palestinian researchers will be
treated in this manner.) To be eligible, researchers of Japanese
nationality residing overseas must have lived in the country for at
least 10 years and been actively engaged in research in that country
throughout the period.
2) Overseas researchers in a position equivalent to a university
professor, associate professor or assistant professor in Japan as of
April 1, 2015.
3) Overseas researchers who do not have above-mentioned careers but
received their doctorate degree prior to six years or more as of
April 1, 2015 and are continuing to do research in a university or
non-profit research institution.

Please note that the same person may not simultaneously be a candidate
for both this fellowship and JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowships or Invitation
Fellowships (Short-term, Short-term S)

NUMBER OF FELLOWSHIPS AWARDED: Approximately 70

DURATION AND COMMENCEMENT OF FELLOWSHIPS:
1) 2 months to 10 months
2) Successful candidates must start the Fellowship in Japan during the
following period:
April 1, 2015 - March 31, 2016

TERMS OF AWARD (FELLOWS ONLY):
1) A round-trip air ticket (based on JSPS’s regulations)
2) A monthly maintenance allowance of 369,000 yen
3) Domestic research trip allowance of 100,000 yen
4) Research expenses of 40,000 yen
5) Overseas travel insurance

DEADLINE: August 12, 2014
We will not accept any items submitted after the deadlines.

institution and satisfy the following requirements:

1) A citizen or permanent resident of a country that has diplomatic
relations with Japan (Taiwanese and Palestinian researchers will be
treated in this manner.) To be eligible, researchers of Japanese
nationality residing overseas must have lived in the other country
for at least 10 years and been actively engaged in research in that
country throughout the period.
2) Overseas researchers in a position equivalent to a university
professor or associate professor as of April 1, 2015.
3) Overseas researchers with an excellent record of research
achievements.

Please note that the same person may not simultaneously be a candidate
for both this fellowship and JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowships or Invitation
Fellowships (Long-term, Short-term S)

DURATION AND COMMENCEMENT OF FELLOWSHIPS:
1) 14 to 60 days
2) Successful candidates must start the Fellowship in Japan during the
following periods:
For the 1st Recruitment: April 1, 2015 - March 31, 2016
For the 2nd Recruitment: October 1, 2015 –March 31, 2016

NUMBER OF FELLOWSHIPS AWARDED:
1st Recruitment: Approximately 110
2nd Recruitment: Approximately 100

TERMS OF AWARD (FELLOWS ONLY):
1) A round-trip air ticket (based on JSPS’s regulations)
2) A daily maintenance allowance of 18,000 yen
3) Domestic research trip allowance of 150,000 yen
4) Overseas travel insurance

DEADLINES:
1st Recruitment: August 12, 2014
2nd Recruitment: April 13, 2015
