Title: Strongly Correlated Electrons Driven by an Electric Field Speaker: Camille Aron, Rutgers Univiersity, USA Abstract: The out-of-equilibrium physics of correlated electrons is attracting a lot of interest, motivated by new experimental realizations in non-linear transport in devices, heterostructures and cold atoms. In this talk, I will focus on the Hubbard-U model driven out of equilibrium by a constant electric field E. I will briefly explain how one can solve the finite-U finite-E problem directly in the steady state (bypassing the transient dynamics) by means of a new dynamical mean-field theory. Afterwards, I will mainly discuss the fate of the Mott physics in the non-linear (strong E) regime by detailing two key features: - the dimensional crossover towards a lower dimensional system; - the dielectric breakdown of the Mott insulator.
