WORKSHOP ANNOUNCEMENT
Nucleic Acids Function
Sunday 7th September - Thu 11th September 2008
The Towler Institute
Vallico Sotto, Tuscany, Italy

POSTER
Workshop programme

The purpose of this event is to review and discuss ideas concerning the structure, function and molecular intervention of nucleic acids that do not code for proteins (non-coding nucleic acids). The broader remit of this field is nucleic acids chemical biology (i.e. the elucidation and manipulation of nucleic acids function using chemical approaches). This workshop is organized by Prof. Shankar Balasubramanian and his group at the Department of Chemistry, University of Cambridge.

The meeting will take place in a 16th Century monastery in the mediaeval high mountain village of Vallico Sotto (in the Tuscan Apuan Alps near the beautiful Italian city of Lucca). The normal format for events at this venue involves formal presentations being restricted to the mornings, with the afternoons left free for relaxed discussion and participation in activities. The monastery is a unique venue where the community spirit and magnificent location have inspired memorable meetings in the past.

The workshop will involve around 16 people, all accommodated on site. Given the private nature of the event most participants will be specifically invited, but anyone who feels they have something to contribute is most welcome to contact the organizer's secretary Miss Joanne Castle (jc462 at hermes.cam.ac.uk) or Professor Balasubramanian himself (sb10031 at cam.ac.uk) for further details.

There is no charge either for participation in the event or for accommodation.
